Poem
Free Fall and thoughts it engendered.
by Myra Stephenson
I flew through the air
with the greatest of
ease.
Then landed so hard
there was no trapeze.
I hit my
left hip
my left elbow, too.
What a ridiculous thing to do!
OHHH! OHHH! GROAN, GROAN
I hurt really bad.
This
situation is
really quite sad.
Got to get up on that
step
that's nearby.
I'll make it/ I'll make it
I just have
to try.
Hmmm; all in one piece
But, oh it hurts so.
Just what did I
I guess I'll soon know.
Here's
Barbara to help
Get me up from the stair
To sit there where
she
has just put a chair.
Stairs should never
without railings
be.
For then there is nothing to grab
don't you see.
I think
we'll soon fix
that little matter,
without more ado
or any
more chatter.
So, what DID I do? at last
a cat scan did
reveal
a fractured pelvis, above
the left leg.
Well, at
least that will heal.
So now, in great state
I sit here at
home.
Without use of left leg
I surely won't roam.
